May Day Writing Retreat at Westminster College, Cambridge

Bank Holiday Three Day Weekend: May 3rd, 4th and 5th 2025

Limited places available! Room for 12 bookings only.

The cost includes three days of teaching sessions, lunch provided daily (please advise us of any dietary requirements when booking), personal writing time on the grounds or nearby, a local trip designed to trigger creativity, and optional evening activities.

Westminster is centrally located near the famous Backs of the colleges and is a ten-minute walk to the river. We promise three days of creative inspiration, connection with fellow writers, the opportunity to spend time with internationally published authors (and the chance to ask us anything you wish) and immersion in a beautiful city in the springtime. Your creativity will blossom away from your everyday routines and busy lives. Give yourself the gift and join us!

Accommodation at Westminster College can be booked separately (see rates below). Consider booking extra nights before or after to do your own writing and reading.

Saturday 3rd:

10.30am - 1pm Morning teaching session

1pm - 2.30pm Lunch in college and an opportunity to wander the grounds and "the backs"

2.30-5pm Afternoon teaching session (with tea, coffee and cake)

6pm Dinner out with Emily and Menna (optional and at own expense)

7.30pm Evening book club (optional)

Sunday 4th:

10.30am - 1pm Morning teaching session

1pm - 2.30pm Lunch in college and an opportunity to wander the grounds and "the backs"

2.30-5pm Afternoon event outside the college to inspire creativity

6pm Dinner out with Emily and Menna (optional and at own expense)

7.30pm Evening event: sharing writing written during the afternoon (optional)

Monday 5th:

10.30am - 1pm Morning discussion session

1pm - 2.30pm Lunch in college and an opportunity to wander the grounds and "the backs"

2.30-6pm Afternoon writing time together (with tea, coffee and cake) and optional private sessions: enrolled students can add on a one-hour private session with either Emily or Menna, who will read 5000 words (for £150) or 10,000 words (for £250) in advance.

£450, with an option to pay £100 deposit now, full payment due April 1st

The cost of a single ensuite bedroom is £105 inc VAT including a full (bottomless!) English breakfast per guest per night. Special access rooms available on request. Please mention the retreat when booking.
